How to play

1. Download the installer above.
2. Run AreosMU-Setup.exe and click through. It will auto-install .NET 10 if you don't have it.
3. Tip: if you have an old graphics card, an old laptop, or you'll play in a VM, check the Compatibility Mode box on the Compatibility page. (Most people leave it unchecked.)
4. After install, launch Areos MU from the Start Menu (or the desktop icon).
5. In the launcher, pick “Connect Server (MuMain Open Source)” (port 44406) and click Start.
6. Login with one of the test accounts below — username and password are the same.

Login = password. e.g. user test1, pass test1.

Crashes on launch?

If the game crashes the moment it opens, your graphics drivers can't handle modern OpenGL. Re-run the installer and check Compatibility Mode on the Compatibility page — that switches the game to software rendering. Slower but works on basically any machine, including VMs and old laptops.

Already installed? Open the install folder (default: C:\Program Files\AreosMU\fallback-software-opengl\) and right-click APPLY-FALLBACK.bat → Run as administrator. To revert, run UNDO-FALLBACK.bat the same way.
